Editorial policy

Notebun’s goal is simple: accurate, clearly written technology news that respects your time. This page explains how we do that.

What we cover

We cover the developments in artificial intelligence and technology that matter, and we leave out the rest. Trending is not the same as true or important: a story has to be newsworthy and confirmed before we publish it.

How every story is checked

  1. Primary source first. We go to the original: the company or lab announcement, the research paper, the filing or the regulator’s decision, then independent reporting. Social media posts are never used as evidence.
  2. Every fact is traced. Each fact in a story can be traced to a source we list. Facts we can’t confirm are left out, and we never invent quotes, tests or interviews.
  3. Context, not just news. Each story explains what changed, what supports it, who is affected, what the practical or economic impact is, and what we still don’t know.
  4. Reviewed before publication. Stories are checked against their sources before they go live. Sensitive stories (health, finance, law, allegations) always get an extra editorial review.

Stories that pass every check carry a “Fact-checked” badge, and every article lists its sources at the bottom.

Research, tests and dates

We keep our own work and other people’s apart. In The Lab, an analysis of outside research is labelled as such and is never presented as Notebun’s own finding. A tool or model is only described as “tested by Notebun” when our team really tested it, with the date and version. Each story shows when the underlying event happened, separately from when we published or updated it, and older topics in the Daily always say so.

How we use AI

Notebun uses AI tools, including xAI’s Grok models, to spot trending topics, research sources, draft stories from verified facts, check, translate and narrate them. AI doesn’t lower the bar: the checks above apply to every story, and stories on sensitive topics are always approved by an editor. Every translation says whether it was made with AI and whether an editor has reviewed it.

Translations and audio

Every translation says which language it was translated from, with a link to the original. When the original changes, its translations and narrations are updated. If a version or its audio isn’t ready yet, we say so: we never quietly show you a different language.

Originality and copyright

We summarize and explain news in our own words. We don’t republish other outlets’ articles, we use at most one short attributed quote per story, and we always link to the original reporting.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, we fix it and list the correction, with its date, at the bottom of the article. Send corrections to hello@notebun.co.

Independence

No company pays for coverage. Any sponsored content in the future will be clearly labelled.
